But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? - 1 John 3:17
The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth—except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers! - Ecclesiastes 5:11
Making money doesn't result in financial stability. Wealth runs through our fingers as we spend more than we make and wonder how we will pay for everything. It's time for us to put the principles we know into action. God gives us joy in our possessions. He only asks us to use them wisely.
Lord, who provides, we thank You for Your provision. Teach us to value the eternal over the temporal.

In the last days there will come times of stress. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful . . . (2 Timothy 3:1–2)
Notice how ingratitude goes with pride, abuse, and insubordination.
In another place Paul says, "Let there be no obscenity, foolish talk, or coarse joking . . . but rather thanksgiving" (Ephesians 5:4). So it seems that gratitude is the opposite of ugliness and violence.
The reason this is so is that the feeling of gratitude is a humble feeling, not a proud one. It is other-exalting, not self-exalting. And it is glad-hearted, not angry or bitter.
The key to unlocking a heart of gratitude and overcoming bitterness and ugliness and disrespect and violence is a strong belief in God, the Creator and Sustainer and Provider and Hope-giver. If we do not believe we are deeply indebted to God for all we have or hope to have, then the very spring of gratitude has gone dry.
So I conclude that the rise of violence and sacrilege and ugliness and insubordination in the last times is a God-issue. The basic issue is a failure to feel gratitude at the upper levels of our dependence.
When the high spring of gratitude to God fails at the top of the mountain, soon all the pools of thankfulness begin to dry up further down the mountain. And when gratitude goes, the sovereignty of the self condones more and more corruption for its pleasure.
Pray for a great awakening of humble gratitude.

We justify our actions by appearances;God examines our motives. - Proverbs 21:2
People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives. - Proverbs 16:2
The Lord examines the motives of the heart. This can be both a blessings and a challenge. We all make mistakes, so errors made with a pure motive will be seen as such. However, good actions made with an impure motive will not be rewarded.
Heavenly Father, forgive me for the dishonesty behind impure motives. Thank You for leading me into all truth.

Fellowship In The Gospel
"Fellow labourer in the gospel of Christ."
After being saved, it is difficult to state what your aim in life is, because God has taken you up into His purpose by the Holy Ghost; He is using you now for His purposes throughout the world as He used His Son for the purpose of our salvation. If you seek great things for yourself - God has called me for this and that; you are putting a barrier to God's use of you. As long as you have a personal interest in your own character, or any set ambition, you cannot get through into identification with God's interests. You can only get there by losing for ever any idea of yourself and by letting God take you right out into His purpose for the world, and because your goings are of the Lord, you can never understand your ways.
I have to learn that the aim in life is God's, not mine. God is using me from His great personal standpoint, and all He asks of me is that I trust Him, and never say - Lord, this gives me such heart-ache. To talk in that way makes me a clog. When I stop telling God what I want, He can catch me up for what He wants without let or hindrance. He can crumple me up or exalt me, He can do any thing He chooses. He simply asks me to have implicit faith in Himself and in His goodness. Self pity is of the devil, if I go off on that line I cannot be used by God for His purpose in the world. I have "a world within the world" in which I live, and God will never be able to get me outside it because I am afraid of being frost-bitten.

God can't stomach liars; he loves the company of those who keep their word. - Proverbs 12:22
If you do the right thing, honesty will be your guide. But if you are crooked, you will be trapped by your own dishonesty. Proverbs 11:3
When we are honest, we take hold of the truth of Christ and spread it to others we meet. It is by living honest, straightforward lives that we move closer to God in all His glory.
I wish that I would be the person you want me to be, almighty God. Empower me with the spirit of the truth, that I might always live honestly and openly in your sight.
