Have a wonderful week

have a wonderful week butterfly Pictures, Images and Photos

Do you ever miss the happy greetings from Myspace?

As Sunday night dwindles away from me, The Good Wife starts, and I know Monday morning is only a few hours away.

I miss signing on MySpace, and seeing, even if superficial, a wish for a "Good Monday"... or a "Good Week!"

Wishes, and good thoughts are not always a bad thing.  We plant that thought in our head, and it's a damn good start!!

It is an Elevator kind of Day

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

While searching for a blog topic, I saw a topic about "See Saw" and it reminded me about a Twitter quote I read last night.

"Elevator kind of Day. "

That was an instant nod for me. Every day from 4:45am to 5:00pm (or a little later) is an elevator day.

I wake up normally with an alarm/snooze going off for an hour. My hubby is a night person.

AND he just earned the 7-3:30 shift. Except now, the hour with the alarm is 4:45am - 5:45am. By the time hubby leaves for work at 6am, let's say my elevator is on the 19th floor, and I am about to jump!!

Get my coffee, and then head up to my office to set MY morning.

Where I go from there is day to day, hour to hour.  I am a corporate/IT/Staffing/Contract recruiter. Quick fills, long term positions, multiple positions, and drama. It's okay. I love it, but it's up and down all darn day!!

Evening comes and the elevator is stopped on the one floor. HOME! Dinner made, chores done, a family room project unfinished due to issues with the vendor, loud tv and trying to find ways to wind down cramped in one room.

Sometimes life doesn't have to have a topic.  An elevator "day" is just how you view things. Find ways to enjoy each stop!

Letting go of being jealous

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

It's Tuesday night, dinner served, dishes done, lunches made for tomorrow.  Sons of Anarchy time!

No, I am not a soccer mom.  In fact, my daughter is twenty, and my husband is thirty-nine. My home-made lunches ROCK according to them. Easier to make it the night before.. they wake up before me!!

In the 90s, I wished so hard that I could stay home, and raise my daughter while she was growing up,  or even have a work schedule that would allow for switching schedules to make 10:00 am halloween parades, get teacher institute days, summers off,  or the possibility to be a chaperone on a field trip!  But damn me for finding a career in the largest Telecommunications company in the world. I mean seriously, I was a TEEN MOM.  How did I find a job EARLY 20s in what was the beginning of the world of CallerID/LongDistanceWars/and the smell of ADSL line (data and IP combined!?!?) That job helped me buy my house in 1998. Also paid for school.

It wasn't all roses. Long hours, attached to a pager.. (haha).  The worst was that I had plenty of fair weather friends that loved to throw it in my face that since I wasn't able to be a lunch mom, I was a failure, and was a horrible person that I put my work before my daughter. It made me very vindictive, and even bitchier. What can I say?  I was tired already!!! Lashing out was my defense.  What else did I have at the time??

However today, as I was standing at the sink doing dishes, I feel very differently.  Why???

I work from home, helping good people, now find good careers.  I have been recruiting since 2004, and working from home for over a year.  I cook, I clean, I prepare dinner every night. We hang out as a family more now than ever. We are like the three musketeers. TV, midnight movies, helping and supporting each other. If one of us has a car that breaks down, we carpool, and make it work. Alyssa has Ryan to get away from us...but even then, they are taking me to Pink Floyd tribute show next month!!

Working for the past 25 years wasn't fun.  I thought I would regret missing being a lunch mom because someone told me I wasn't as good as her because I had a career.  Sadly, I should have known to trust my gut. My parents had really good work ethic, and they passed it on to me-just as Rick and I passed it on to Alyssa.

I use to think independence made me who I was.  But now, being here for my family and close friends, is who I am. I am still Kimberly Salvinski Garcia, but I am also Kimmy, wifey, momma, auntie, Mrs Garcia, and Ms Garcia, IT Recruiter, KimmySharingLight, and abutterflyloves.

Find out who you are - by being who you are.  Never let anyone tell you differently. Should I plug Alyssa's article here? Nah.. I will post it tomorrow!

xoxoxo - K

Me and You Karma

Saturday, September 3, 2011

Karma, you can be very telling when you want to be.

You have a way to show me when I get a little high on that high horse, that one good bump will throw me off and leave me in the muck.

I am too busy to care about other people's lives, and have been keeping my focus on my own house of cards.

Yes, of course, I wonder at times, but you pull me right back in Lady Karma, and remind me my place is with people that are my life. Period.

And when life throws me a curve ball, like the remodel of the family room, you take my panic and anxiety and give me music to dance to.

Karma doesn't have to be a bitch.

Treat her with respect, honor, and realize that when you throw out shit, she will throw it back at you.

If you stay out of what doesn't concern you, she rewards you with happiness and joy.

Stop trying to seek out the "happiness" from others.

BE happy. And realize it is only YOU that decides that path.

If you have people stroking your ego so you "feel" better, when it stops, karma is rolling her eyes at you while you are finding ways to blame everyone else for your problems.  How do I know? Been there!

Trying the newest Blogger interface. It is September 3rd? I might take a cat nap. We have so much work to be done at our house, and I am feeling it. Yawn.
