Good Luck Fall Semester 2011 Alyssa and MCC Students

Good luck on another semester! A small snafu in a computer glitch forced Alyssa into only three nights a week instead of four.  I am all for pushing self to the best of your ability, however with working full time, new responsibilities, and papers galore perhaps it's a blessing in disguise.

For the simplest reason it's almost Sons of Anarchy time. She already has class on Tuesday, and a review she has to post after the show. It makes for a really long Tuesday, if I recall the past two years!! lol.

I think the lesson is patience, with progress.  Sure, full time credit hours helps you reach your goal, but you will reach the goal anyway.  It might take another semester, but it's not like you are lying dormant.

See you late evening!

For the Good Times

My parents have been married 40 years today. I am more emotional than I thought I would be. They married later in life. Why? Because they were independent souls that had their own life to lead before they settled down.

Both my parents trained in the medical field, my mom being an surgical nurse, and adventures that only the luckiest ones would get to experience. My father grew up in a large college town in Wisconsin, served his country in the Army as a Medical Assistant across the globe. However, upon returning, he worked 30 years in the Electronics/Components division at Motorola, where they also sent him out of the country.

They are MY parents, and I was, and still at times, the most difficult to deal with. They never gave up on me. But this post is about them.

I never understood why they had a "break up" song as their wedding song until today.

For the Good Times - Written by Kris Krisofferson - Sung by Ray Price

Don't look so sad, I know it's over,
But life goes on and this ol' world will keep on turning.
Let's just be glad we had some time to spend together,
There's no need to watch the bridges that we're burning.

Lay your head upon my pillow,
Hold your warm and tender body close to mine,
Hear the whisper of the raindrops blowing soft across the window,
And make believe you love me one more time,
For the good times . . .

I'll get along, you'll find another,
And I'll be here if you should find you ever need me,
Don't say a word about tomorrow, or forever,
They'll be time enough for sadness when you leave me . . .

Lay your head upon my pillow,
Hold your warm and tender body close to mine,
Hear the whisper of the raindrops blowing soft across the window,
And make believe you love me one more time,
For the good times . . .

For the good times . . .

They stayed together, and didn't have to. Both parties could have survived alone. They had already proven they could be "independent", no reason to make a statement that "I don't need you:. that was a given.

Happy 40th Anniversary. I know I am lucky to have you both.

The Chances, the Changes

The greatest adventure
is what lies ahead.
Today and tomorrow are yet to be said.
The chances, the changes
are all yours to make.
The mold of your life
is in your hands to break.
