Participation in lieu of give and take

I follow a few actors on their Facebook, Twitter.

I am pretty selective in whom I want updates for because my reason for following them isn't just "addiction" to the characters they have played.

Even thought I do not "know" the real person, I get a strange sense of who they are based on their other activities they share.

Informing the public; sharing poems, writings, or even announcing they will be at a local coffee shop in Los Angeles, or New York.

Makes me wish I didn't live in Chicago, and I could go see true talent while sipping on a Latte.

I follow the blog of one very talented performer, and he talks about fans in detail. In today's age, fans can click one or two buttons, and they are "friends" or "followers". He talked about the days of actual paper fan mail, and how he loves to still get it from time to time. I haven't had the courage yet to write one, because I wouldn't even know what to say.  I lose what is left of my intelligence if I have to actually speak.

However June 17th, I received birthday wishes from my fav actor, and I was touched. It made me smile. Isn't that what life is, smiles! Feeling good! Work to enjoy every thing you do.

Today, he sent me a message and video of an epic upcoming film that was still in need of funds. Why not I thought? I donated basically the price of a few cups of coffee had I gone to see him at a coffee shop. It wasn't much, in fact, I decided to donate before I found out he was in it.

The fact that he took a moment out of his day, to wish me Happy Birthday, was a sign that life is what it is. People are just people. My neighbor helped me with his big snowblower in our blizzard, and I helped him with his trees that seriously needed root watering this year.

I choose to look at is as participation in life, rather than a give/take agreement. We participate, out of kindness, and that is returned because you are compelled to return the gesture.

I have the post for the donation request on my Facebook and Twitter page.

If you wanted to take a look at the upcoming movie, and donate as little as $1.00, please take a look at the link below.

Quibblo and Kids Sharing Light

Sunday, July 24, 2011

This is a post about the website http://www.quibblo.com

Don't worry, I am not getting paid or anything like that.

My post is not all about Quibblo, just reaching out to parents, aunties, uncles, grandparents, and caregivers about kids and teens, staying safe and young.

Allowing kids to be kids.

My nieces are 10 and 13, adorable little girls that have a love for books, quizzes, fan made stories. They asked me, their auntie to take a look at one of the stories each that they wrote. The stories were adorable, and age appropriate.

In 1980, I received my first diary. I still have it, and remember writing Fan Fiction about David Lee Roth's break from Van Halen, and his triumphant return. Imagination is not just about doll houses anymore.

Telling kids to go outside and play is great. But allowing them an outlet to be a "kid" online is also just as great. As a parent, it is my opinion that kids need such an outlet. Facebook, Myspace, even MyYearbook seems more about finding an online connection rather than just to play games and read kid stories.

I still however recommend to watch, and observe what they are looking at. I recommend that a parent is one of their friends. I know that is not always possible so auntie Kimmy, and cousin Alyssa will have to do. I am sure I could get uncle Rick on there as well!

Speaking of Rick, he is reading Twilight now! The girls, Alyssa, and I are thrilled that he wants to read them all by Breaking Dawn Part One in Nov 2011. We all went to Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Part 2 at midnight for the release. How cute is that??

I haven't done a full search on the site to tell you I approve 100%. I only looked at the quizzes my nieces took, and the friends they are friends with. They even let me know the email address they used and the password. I didn't ask for it. They offered it to me to ask me to edit their stories. TOO MANY!!! LOL!"S AND OMG!!!!

AND fyi on my Kimmy Sharing Light post above. I don't have a clue how a boy's mind works. Having a hubby that loves SCI-FI, XBOX, Cheesy movies, and SCI-FI, Dan Brown, and John Grisham books I would just keep trying new things until they have their outlet. My nephew is a huge computer gamer, WII, and anything Mario or Luigi. But he hasn't found girls yet. They found him, and the from what I hear from my sister in law, they call and want to hang with him all day. I might talk to him to see if the Quibblo thing would interest him. Last time I saw him his head was in the Lord of the Rings/Fellowship books, and completely in Middle Earth. Gotta LOVE that too!

I know I am ranting. But it's late Sunday. I have to work early, and I am stalling on another week!

xoxoxoxo

Harry Potter Severus Snape Moment for the ages

Friday, July 15, 2011

The greasy haired, hook nosed potions master in Harry Potter that "loathes"...mostly everything.

Mysterious, and has a haunting past. Was a death eater, but turned spy for Dumbledore and the Order Of the Phoenix.

In the sixth book, Snape murders Dumbledore.

In the seventh book, Snape shows Harry why he did it. Turns out he loved Harry's mother, Lily, and turned to Dumbledore for help when he found out Voldemort was going to kill her (and her son and husband). When Dumbledore has one year left to live he asks Snape to kill him in order to help others.

Dumbledore: But this is touching Severus, have you grown to care for the boy, after all?

Severus Snape: For him? Expecto Patronum!

(A silver doe patronus like Lily Potter's emits from Snape's wand.)

Dumbledore: After all this time?

Snape: Always

Lily Potter: Does it make a difference, being Muggleborn?

Snape hesitated. His black eyes, eager in the greenish gloom moved over the pale face, the dark red hair.

Snape: No, It doesn't make any difference.

Be more open

10 months until Alyssa is 21.Where has 21 years gone!?

God HELP us!

Guest post by Alyssa

We all say that we want to be more open with people that, and that is our goal with them. We see it all the time in relationships with family, friends or a significant other, we always try to stay open with our minds as much a we can.

There are times that they don't know things about us, even the simplest of things. For example, I like to write short stories, and poetry but if you asked anyone in my family only a few would know that I do, my mom and my grandma most likely.

And that is just a very basic example of things that we hide from people.

We all need to be more open with each-other, there's no reason to not tell someone something or just forget to mention that you have a big secret in your life.

The people around you deserve to know the things that are on your mind, if they, your close friends,  are important enough to keep in your life, why not have the courage to tell them more about yourself then just the day to day things?

Angels go on Forever

Tuesday, July 5, 2011

Lonely soul on a journey of light,
Come rest with us a while this night.

Come learn, come share, come give of you,
As love and light shall pull you through.

Endless days, tomorrow's choice;
Listen to our subtle voice.
We'll hold your gentle loving hand,

And try to help you understand.

Come sit with us for a little while
Come laugh, come sing, and share a smile

Dear child of God and sweetest thing
Listen carefully; hear Angels sing.

Come forth, come give, and be a part
Let love and light within your heart
let's all join hands and walk together
As One Big Circle; we go on forever.

Happy Freedom

Sunday, July 3, 2011

No words of wisdom, or light besides the light inside of you.

I am grateful for freedom, independence from reliance of anyone or anything.

Glad my family is all off today, and besides the gym and pool, we are all together.

Now that's what I call FREE.

And manifesting that deck!
